Portrait of a swimmer

From a series of portrait of University of Louisville Student Athletes for an advertising and calender campaign...Gary Raketich a University of Louisville Swim Team member and a co-captain of the Cardinal Swim Team is expected to lead the Cardinal Swim Team into the next millennium.

This image was photographed in an Olympic sized swimming pool on the campus at UofL. To create this look a red paper backdrop that was lit with a set of flashes (gelled to add more pop) for the background and an additional 3 lights were used for the subject. A Canon 400 2.8L lens with a 1.4 teleconverter was used. The image was shot on Ektachrome 100 to ensure the rich colors. This image was used in marketing campaigns as well as on a special limited edition calendar.
