Snow & Hein: lifestyle

Our latest couple Snow & Hein from Myanmar who chose Prague for a small, lifestyle session. Currently residing in the US where they are finishing up their university studies, Snow & Hein were in Prague for a few days and decided that the gorgeous city was picture perfect for a small engagement session.

They had already visited the many tourist heavy sites and asked if I knew of a location that would be less crowded. My first thought was of course Ledebour garden  – it is in reality one of the most beautiful locations in Prague to be photographed in. Of course there is that Commercial Photography admittance fee, but the reality is – Ledeburska is a peaceful oasis of calm overlooking the city and is gorgeous.

So on one very sunny & hot summer day we did just that, we traveled up and around and explored the many hidden gems this garden has to offer. And the result – as they said themselves GORGEOUS!

Presented here is a small sampling of two people in love exploring a unique cultural landmark in one of the most gorgeous cities in the world: Prague!

L&T: marriage proposal

While ‘L’  was on her European vacation with her best friend,  her boyfriend ‘T’ decided to secretly fly to Prague and surprise her with a marriage proposal.  ‘T’ being the kind of guy that he is really wanted to make it very special.  After several email exchanges of ideas, locations and logistics  –  we had a plan.  With some fantastic local musicians, one of our favorite florists and of course a truly wonderful location (where the nights dinner was to also take place) the only thing we needed was to make sure everything went according to plan.

On one of those gorgeous summer days where the warmth of the sun lit everything in a golden pastel  ‘L’ and her best friend were walking around Kampa when she received a very odd text message. It said to go down the small walkway that is behind the fountain and a big surprise awaits you. Curiously (and being encouraged by her friend) she walked down and found herself in front one of the most beautiful views of the Charles Bridge as a string quartet began playing one of her favorite songs. Next to the musicians was a vase containing a dozen red roses and underneath a placard with her initials. Placed underneath a beautiful love letter with her initials.  As ‘L’ began to read, she immediately teared up, as she finished she began looking around and then ‘T’ popped out from behind the corner with a very big grin and immediately hugged her.  After their heartfelt embrace, the music changed again to their song and he proceeded  to drop to his knee and proposed. You really could not plan for a more special moment than that. I do hope the photos capture that late afternoon and the emotions these two expressed for each other.

Truth is – sometimes a little planning goes a long way in creating the most memorable and unique days in one’s lives. Congrats to these two and thanks for allowing us to share such a private and memorable moment.

If you are looking for a specially organized & professionally planned marriage proposal here in Prague we would be quite happy to speak with you. Our team can assist in nearly anything you need from firework displays, to organizing your entire day. And naturally we would be quite happy to handle the photography and video too.

Cynthia & Matt: marriage proposal

Matt sold Cynthia on the idea of having a lifestyle session, but in reality it was to be a completely different kind of session: a surprise marriage proposal at the riverside in Prague.

Sometimes life throws you something totally unexpected. These two globetrotters met the previous summer on one of those hot, humid nights where the right music and the energy of the crowd was happening. They spied each other from afar, smiled and they knew that there was something very special unspoken between them. They walked up, met, shared lots of laughs, stories and enjoyed the evening where time simply stood still.

One of their fondest memories from that night was the two of them taking a long walk that night in to the early hours on the Charles Bridge as the twilight broke above them. It was an unforgettable chance encounter one that they could not shake.

As they live on different continents it was one of those affairs where they really became close even though they were so far apart physically. And then a year (and a few months later) they decided to meet up and celebrate where they first met – here in Prague. It was her idea to have a small lifestyle photo session to capture some new memories.

In the early hours before the city awoke and before the city is overtaken in tourists, they did just that. Cynthia warned me that she was far more interested in the photos than he was (typical guy thing) but that was most likely a ploy as Matt had something he had been holding on to for quite some time. And just like fate – it all came together unsuspectingly and quite beautifully.

What follows here is a small photo story of that very special moment these two shared where they made the decision to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.

A romantic marriage proposal at Prague Castle

Dillon’s friends knew that once he met Celeste it would be game over. They were so confident that when they were finally introduced at a party he was literally taken back. He was that smitten by her. She was also quite in to him as well. Fast forward a few years and it was time – after all she is the one. With the help of her father (yes, Dillon is the chivalrous type), a view master and an absolutely stunning diamond engagement ring (and yes, yours truly) an evening was planned that they would soon not forget. The only question he had: where should he propose? Truth be told I always say – go with your instincts. When it feels right – it will be right. As we made our way around the always impressive St. Vitus Cathedral Dillon knew. And just as the sun began to fade he brought out the view master and asked her to take a look – at the many moments they had shared together in the past. What follows is captured here adding to an already impressive collection of images and moments these two have shared.

Verona, Italy Luxury Elopement

Dreaming of an elopement wedding in Verona, Italy? This iconic “City of Love” offers stunning backdrops like the Verona Arena, Castelvecchio, and Juliet’s House (Casa di Giulietta). Our recent couple from Japan ‘E&D’ had a magical experience, exploring these historic sites after their intimate ceremony at Villa la Magioca. Verona’s charm and spontaneous interactions, like local schoolkids congratulating them, made the day feel even more special. With a love for Hellas football and Shakespearean romance, their relaxed, candid portrait session beautifully captured the essence of their dream wedding in Verona.

A romantic sunrise engagement photo session in Prague

A sunrise engagement photo session in Prague with Christie & Michael (USA)

Not only is Prague one of the most visited places in Europe it is also one of the most romantic. With it being in the top 10 places to visit, it is packed with people in the summer months which can be very frustrating for couples who wish to have a peaceful, intimate engagement session. Truth is, if you do mind having many people in your photos (and of course the photo bombing) you really need to consider having a very early sunrise session.

Why a sunrise session? Well lets face it, if you have not been to Prague – especially along the bridge, the riverside or even on the Charles Bridge – you are really missing out on something. Literally at sunset the entire river downtown is ringed with tourists with their phones, cameras and tablets all trying to get a picture of the sunset. And forget about creating beautiful, intimate images on the Charles Bridge as it is so packed with people you can at times barely move. The days where we could creates sunset and night time portraits on the Charles Bridge are over. Sad but true. This is why the only way to truly experience the beauty of this city (and nearly every tourists city in Europe) is to get up very, very early. May of our Asian pre-wedding sessions start at 4 am now as they want the romance of the city but with no people…

Christie & Micheal are one of our couples who braved the early morning wake up to have their pre sunrise session. They came over from the US for their European vacation and they liked the idea of starting at Prague  Castle where you can watch the sunrise breaking above the City of 100 Spires and so on a cool summer morning as the sky flared above us we met for the first time and immediately hit it off. After a few moments of getting to know each other better  it was time to take our journey. The idea, just walking around and enjoying yourself in a natural laid back way. Some couples wish to have some posed images while others are more interested in being naturally photographed – truth is, it is up to each couple as it is their session.

As Christie & Michael made their way down the steps you can tell that they loved the peace and quiet and having one of the most beautiful cities in Europe as their backdrop made it all the more exciting and yes, romantic. When we did arrive to the Charles Bridge the other end was already filling up with couples and many photographers but on our end it was still very peaceful and quiet and that is where some of their favorite images were captured. Truth is you can spend several hours on the Charles Bridge as it offers so much or you can try to explore more places but these two were very happy with the very laid back pace and wanted to really take it all in.

People often ask, how long should our session take, when should we start and how do we get around? Truth is, you can devote as much time as you wish (90 minutes, 3 hours and even 6 hours), but if you are looking for something truly magical, without feeling rushed and without having people interrupt those wonderful moments – having a sunrise session is one of the most unforgettable moments you will have.  You can also enjoy the most creative and artistic time which we lovingly call the Golden Light Hour (my personal fave) and then top it all off at a garden or a different location as time allows. And yes, we walk, it is the only way to enjoy this city, to explore its cobblestone alleys, or spend an hour  on one of the most famous bridges in the world. Truth is, these sessions are designed to move you, impress you and blow you away.

Creating these beautiful sessions that will be looked upon many years later  is one of the reasons why I gave up photojournalism. Hearing the wonderful feedback from clients and how much they love these sessions is a nice bonus too.

Pictured here are Christie & Michael’s favorite images from that morning where the world seemingly stopped and allowed them to be the center of it all.

Pereen & Jay secret marriage proposal & E-Session in Prague!

Looking for inspiration on a surprise marriage proposal in Prague? Look no further than Jay’s surprise marriage proposal to his girlfriend Pereen on one of those hot summer nights in Prague.

Jay really wanted to go out of his way in creating an unforgettable surprise marriage proposal for his beautiful girlfriend Pereen. As these two live apart Prague was chosen as their rendezvous and little did Pereen know that Jay was holding on to a stunning  engagement ring.

The location: the Letna overlook which provides a magical view of the city down below. The setup: a card game was introduced that brought out many laughs and smiles before the big moment. The moment – captured here for all to see.  The bonus:  Mother Nature provided them with an incredibly beautiful sunset and a lightning storm that was ferocious in its intensity.

After capturing at the Letna overlook and a quick walk towards the castle we opted to head down to Malostrana to capture some moments but had to jump inside a pub to escape the pouring rain. A few moments later the skies cleared and it was time to capture these as they experienced an unforgettable summer evening in Prague.

Pictured here is a small sample of that incredible evening.

To Jay & Pereen, it was fantastic meeting you and your book looks wonderful. Congratulations again and on behalf of my team we wish you both all the very best in your new lives together as husband and wife.
