N+D (USA) Vrtba Garden destination wedding in Prague

Where to start with these two…?

Besides being, young hip, fun loving Americans from the midwest who enjoy traveling and the finer things in life; Nicole is also a wedding & portrait photographer making this the 5th wedding photographers wedding I have photographed. While Drew – like myself and most of us guys – was not a big fan of being photographed. But as this was Nicole’s wedding day that did not stop Drew from cutting loose and having some fun later on. One of their reasons for not having a large wedding back in the US was due to them simply wanting to have their wedding day in their own way and in a city that they both love. Prague is certainly that kind of city with its enchanting & historic architecture and laid back vibes.

On the day of we met them (I say we as my trusty lighting tech was with me) at the truly special Alchymist Nosticova a true luxury boutique hotel that additionally provides a wonderful venue for couples getting prepped on their wedding day. The atmosphere is distinctively Old Europe and those orange & red shades certainly make for a striking color palette.

After a few photos of Nicole getting prepared as well as a few wonderful moments shared with the proud mothers it was time to travel to the wonderful Vrtbvoska Zahrada / Vrtba Garden – one of the gems of Prague where Drew was patiently awaiting the start of their wedding ceremony.

You could not have asked for better weather as the Nicole was escorted through the colorful manicured gardens.

After their ceremony underneath the famous frescoes and the exchanging of their vows and rings, these two and their families explored the garden with the spectacular panoramic view that inspires so many to keep coming back. After a few fun group shots with family & friends, we took leave of them and spent several hours exploring the gardens at Prague Castle.

We caught up with their family & friends for a small reception and dinner at the wonderful Aria Hotel which offers breathtaking views of the city below and especially the castle above. All in all a very stunning and beautiful day for these two.

To Nicole & Drew, congratulations again! We wish you much love, happiness and future success in your new lives together as husband and wife.

Vrtba garden elopement wedding with KA&S (USA)

A vrtba zahrada / garden wedding in Prague with Kaivel Ann & Stan (USA)

Kaivel Ann & Stan are two very lovely people who found love in the skies. As both of them work for an airline they have traveled extensively around the world. Even though they know many exotic & wonderful places, they chose Prague for their destination wedding as they both love this city of 100 spires with its cobblestone streets, incredible architecture and captivating history.

When Kaivel Ann contacted me about her wedding day, I was truly taken in by her warmth and her utter joy that she expressed in her original email to me. I was so taken in by her writing that when I met them I already felt I knew them both. These two are both very visibly smitten with each other so having their wedding day captured exactly as they envisioned was quite important to them.

Their choice of wedding venue, the stunning Vrtba Garden and as they timed their wedding at the right time of year, the garden provided them with a luxuriant array of colors to add to the already unforgettable atmosphere. Reds, greens and yellows provided the main color scheme of their garden wedding and the mixture of Baroque architectural elements as well as the layout of the garden itself created a fairy tale atmosphere that is and always has been picture perfect.

To make it that much more special they brought their close friends and family members with them to share in the joy. There were quite a few tears shed as these two said their ‘I do’s’ and a very heart felt embrace during that wonderful moment under the Baroque paintings above them. What I especially enjoy was capturing the pure love that these two shared on that wonderful day and how much fun we had in showing them the sights. Though the rain did come, it did not put a dampener on these two and if anything added to the fun we all had.

Presented here is the very simple, yet elegant layout that we did of their beautiful wedding book, one that they are no doubt sharing with their family & friends.

To Kaivel Ann & Stan, thank you both for choosing me to capture this incredible time in your lives together. It was a true pleasure getting to know you and capturing these wonderful moments of that day in Prague.

Lauren & Gustav’s marriage proposal in Prague

The most beautiful wedding proposal on the Charles Bridge in Prague with Lauren & Gustav (USA)!

It truly was the most beautiful and romantic marriage proposal you will ever see on the Charles Bridge in Prague – in fact, it is a new standard.

Gustav (whose family traces their roots from here) sold Lauren on the idea of traveling to Prague for a vacation and while they were here to recreate a famous painting of a couple dancing atop the world famous Charles Bridge at night with several musicians.

With that in mind, the musicians (Viktorie & Pavel), the crew (lighting of course as you wish to have everything perfect – no cutting costs here) and of course the amazing location of the Charles Bridge at sunrise was organized on their behalf. The only thing we needed was perfect weather and luckily in the summer months that is never a problem.

They say that pictures are worth a 1000 words and with that in mind, I think we will simply let the following selection of their favorite images tell the story of that incredible summer morning in Prague.

Chateau Mcely wedding / Ludmilla & Sergey wedding

Luxury weddings: Ludmilla & Sergey’s beautiful Chateau Mcely Wedding Day!

What can you say: a young attractive and fun couple, a beautiful location at one of the Czech Republic’s more charming Chateau and a beautiful fall day in the Czech Republic combined for a truly spectacular wedding day.

Ludmilla looked absolutely stunning when I first met her, she was simply beaming as a young bride to be. And the always smiling Sergey was quite relaxed as he took in the grounds with his friends who traveled down to watch them exchange vows.

As the musicians started to play all eyes were on the smiling Ludmilla as she was escorted by her father to a wonderful location under a large old tree on the Chateau’s grounds. After the ceremony it was time for champagne toasts and a walk (or bike) ride around the grounds.

The one thing I will always enjoy about the two of them was just how relaxed and easy going they were – and of course how young. The following is a small selecting of truly stunning photos captured on their beautiful wedding day.

Prague wedding elopement / prague wedding photography / Libby & Scott

Sometimes the best approach is to simply leave home, to travel afar, visit places you have not seen, and to tie the knot with the person of your dreams in a simple yet beautiful way. No fanfare, no big productions, no stress, just two people, in a small and very old & historic church (St. Phillips and James church) overlooking a beautiful, Bohemian valley in the heart of Europe.

Scott & Libby who traveled from Canada were rewarded with a truly spectacular fall day – picture perfect for a wedding.

Honestly, if I was to marry I would do it like this.

Hluboka nad Vltavou Castle Wedding / Katya & Martin wedding day

Katya & Martina are one of those awesome, fun, fabulous couples who believe it or not survived a flood ( the Mercedes S class really does float well ), power outages at their wedding venue and a torrential downpour that flooded Cesky Krumlov while we were shooting their wedding portraits and all of this – on their wedding day. And yet, they had a brilliant time (though the wedding dress was a bit wrecked).

Not only did they have a great time but their family & friends who traveled in from around the world also took everything in stride – after all when you are partying on the grounds of a truly stunning castle as Hluboka nad Vltavou – why not.

So without further adieu a truly wonderful couple whose wedding images make me smile every time I see them.

Vrtbovska garden weddings / Akiko & Jakub / wedding day photography

It was simply one of the most beautiful days of the year and it was truly fitting for Akiko and Jakub who traveled over from Los Angelas to marry here in Prague.

Akiko & Jakub chose the most beautiful garden to marry in, the famous Vrtbovska Zahrada. As you can see it was a wonderful, intimate affair under the historic architecture and paintings of this famous garden. After their ceremony it was time for champagne and Hors d’ oeuvres with lots of hugs, congratulations and even a few tears of joy.

While family & friends were enjoying the garden, we headed to the top to take in one of the most spectacular views in Prague. This is truly a wonderful place to simply kick back and enjoy the peace and quite as you stare out over the stunning views of the river and the many towers protruding from the red tiles roofs. Everyone speaks of how beautiful Prague is but until you have seen it from this vantage point (or Prague Castle at night) you really can’t appreciate just how stunning this city is.

After a few portraits we headed off for a stroll around the centre to soak up the atmosphere. Wherever Akiko & Jakub went they were truly the center of attention as many tourists paused to congratulate them as well as take their pictures.

One of the things I enjoy about Akiko & Jakub is how relaxed and fun they are and so walking around with them, getting to know them and and creating these beautiful keepsakes of their time here was not only an honor but a real pleasure as we all had a great time.

To Akiko and Jakub, I wish both of you much love, happiness and success in your new lives together as husband & wife. And I look forward to meeting up with the two of you the next time you return to Praha!
