This is undoubtedly one of my favorite weddings. Sherry and Ken are a wonderful couple, and I'm honored to now call them friends. We first met in Prague for a pre-wedding portrait session that left a lasting impression. A few months later, Ken reached out to ask if I would travel to London to photograph their wedding. As he explained, after Sherry reviewed countless portfolios, she simply said, “I only want Kurt.” I was touched—after all, they could have chosen anyone in the UK or Hong Kong. Naturally, I couldn’t say no.

Their chosen venue, Syon House, is one of London’s iconic estates, often featured in films and television. As the residence of the Duke of Northumberland, it offered a grand, exclusive setting for their day. The opportunity to photograph their wedding at such a place was something we all looked forward to.

The day before the wedding, we set out early for a portrait session featuring Sherry’s stunning designer gown—the most coveted dress of the season. Unfortunately, the rain quickly escalated into flooding streets, forcing us to cancel. Sherry was understandably disappointed, but with a smile, she suggested we try again after the wedding. Although I was concerned they’d be exhausted, Sherry’s excitement was infectious, and we happily agreed.

The wedding day was flawless. The staff at Syon House attended to every detail, creating an intimate celebration filled with laughter, warmth, and joy. After a brief break, we ventured into the city for an unforgettable dinner at Jamie Oliver’s Barbecoa by St. Paul’s Cathedral. Following dinner, Sherry and Ken were eager to capture a few last portraits. Despite the long day, their energy never waned as we made our way from St. Paul’s to Big Ben. Sherry was all smiles, and Ken—ever the attentive new husband—did everything he could to support her (especially with the weight of that gown!).

It was a magical end to a perfect day, and if given the chance, they would happily do it all over again.
