When I met Penar and Cem the day before their wedding, I felt an immediate connection. They were full of excitement about both their wedding and the chance to experience Prague’s beauty. Traveling from Istanbul with close family, they were to marry at the Turkish Embassy. Like all young couples, they were hoping for some truly extraordinary images to showcase to their many family & friends back home. One concern, though, was the timing and location: a midday ceremony meant not only the harsh lighting of the midday sun but also large crowds of tourists—not the atmosphere they had envisioned.

As they shared stories about their lives, dreams of practicing medicine in the UK, and their journey as a couple, I found myself wanting to give them a more intimate, unforgettable experience. Since I often work with couples in the early morning to capture stunning portraits before Prague wakes up, I proposed an early-morning session for them. Their eyes lit up, and their smiles said it all. A quick call to one of my favorite hair and makeup artists, Linda Chudmilova, sealed the deal. Now, we just needed the weather to cooperate.

On the morning of their wedding day, we met on the nearly-empty Charles Bridge just as the sky began to shift with the colors of dawn. Awestruck, Penar, and Cem took it all and smiled. They were not exactly sure of what kind of photos they wished to have ('just make us look great please'), we captured a few classic, posed shots, but then I stepped back, letting them savor the moment in their way as they explored, cuddled and held each other tight watching mother nature at her best.

Sometimes, words fall short—so I’ll let their beautiful photos tell the rest of the story.
