As a destination wedding photographer who lives in Prague, I could not have been more excited for the wedding of Moscow couple Anna & Sergey at the Castle Hluboka. Their only wedding day request - to focus on capturing the real emotion and moments of the day - a reportage. No portrait session, no art directing - just tell their story.
Their wedding day started at the Hotel Stejkl on the grounds of the castle. I met up with the very nervous bride being pampered by her doting mother & sisters who lovingly attending to her every need. Sergio, the successful businessman was taking calls from his clients in addition to a few from Anna while his always laughing mother assisted. In the next room you could hear the sounds of men clinking their glasses and having a laugh.
Besides Anna's nerves, the only real question was the weather. It started off gray with a forecast of light rain during the ceremony, but luckily the rain held off for their outdoor ceremony.
Then it was time. Capturing their smiles as they were finally allowed to face each other for the first time was priceless. Anna struggled to keep her composure as off in the distance the musicians began to play.
With a wedding full of so much emotions and wonderful moments it sof the most beautiful moments: Anna tearing up in happiness as Sergio - also tearing up - gently and very sweetly wiped away her tears.
The huge smiles on their face when they were introduced officially as Mr & Mrs as the family & friends cheered in delight was also wonderful to capture. After the group photos, champagne toasts and watching the video guy art direct a small scene I asked if they wanted to get away from everyone for a few moments - to enjoy a few quiet moments to themselves.
Those fleeting moments when a couple can enjoy each others company alone are so rare and cherished on a day filled with many events, for these two - having just a few moments would be priceless.
No sooner did they take leave, Sergio’s phone rang and he was back to conducting business. Anna was all smiles as she gave me the ‘what can you do’ look. Though Sergio made it up to her and that intimate sequence really captured how they felt. They also made up a wonderful sequence in their wedding book.
After more celebratory drinks it was time to drive back to Prague in a stylish Maybah. Before we arrived to Prague, Anna asked ‘if it was my wedding day where would I wish to go for one very special picture?’ Naturally I knew just the locale.
Just as we arrived the sun finally came out and as it did the energy level of these two rose just as much leading to some impromptu dancing with lots of hugs of happiness and a view that left them breathless.
Their evening party took place at the Kaunicky Palace - a venue in Prague that can create a sumptous atmosphere.
