Akemi (あけみ) and Takeshi (たけし) traveled from Japan with impeccable style and an instinct for joy — and Lake Bled gave them everything in return.
Their day began at historic Vila Bled, where mirror-calm water and vivid blue skies framed every preparation moment. Akemi’s vintage-inspired gown and birdcage veil, Takeshi’s modern blue suit and purple bow tie — two distinct aesthetics that worked beautifully together.
From Vila Bled’s sunlit steps to the medieval terraces of 12th-century Bled Castle — where they embraced local customs with engraved keepsakes and fine wine — their laughter rang out against ancient stone. The ceremony at St. Martin’s Church was followed by the Heart of Bled, carriage rides, and the kind of playful spontaneity that can’t be directed.
The golden hour unfolded on the lake itself. The light that fell across Akemi in those final moments on the water was the kind that arrives once and doesn’t repeat.
A traditional pletna boat carried them across still water to the island church for bell-ringing wishes. Then back across glittering water as sunset turned everything gold — Akemi even took the oars, rowing her new husband through the quiet in unhurried silence.
As twilight settled over Bled Castle and the Julian Alps, the day closed exactly as it had begun — with two people entirely at ease in each other’s company, and a landscape that seemed to arrange itself around them.
