Daisy and Luis flew in from Hong Kong for their destination wedding in Prague — and arrived, by their own admission, completely camera-shy. What they truly desired were timeless, wall-worthy keepsakes that felt authentic to their love.
With gentle guidance, they slowly relaxed into the experience. What began as nervous sunrise portraits on their wedding morning in Prague blossomed beautifully. Their natural affection and growing confidence shone so strongly that, days after the wedding, they called from Venice asking if we would join them for a honeymoon sunrise session.
Of course, we said yes.
At 4:45 AM, Venice belonged entirely to them. In the soft golden light, they moved from hesitant poses to fully owning every moment — laughing, embracing, running across an empty Piazza San Marco, and posing beautifully together as if the city had been built just for them.
The result is a refined, deeply romantic, and cinematic collection that captures not only their love, but their personal journey — from quiet shyness to radiant confidence. Today, these images grace their home in Hong Kong, a deeply personal reminder that the most beautiful stories unfold when you trust the moment.

Venice at twilight. No crowds. Surrounded by history.
At 4:45 AM, the city was entirely theirs alone.

As the sky shifted colour, they played above the gondolas — carefree, unhurried, alive.
Only the sound of water lapping against the gondolas in the canals.

Daisy & Luis
Before their Prague wedding, they told me they were shy — that they didn’t know how to pose.
After their wedding, they asked me to join them in Venice for their honeymoon. Of course, I could not say no.

Walking the length of the Doge’s Palace at twilight.
Laughing & loving as they held each other close.

I told them not to worry about posing. Just live in the moment.
And so they did. Standing quietly beside an antique lantern that has watched the pages of history turn.

Running through an empty Piazza San Marco — one of life’s simplest, most perfect pleasures.

And yes — they posed. Beautifully. In their wedding attire, at the Doge’s Palace, as if the city had been built just for them.
The Bridge of Sighs — once full of heartache — is now a backdrop for lovers.

Confident, composed, and bathed in light — just one of many extraordinary moments from a morning Venice will never know it gave them.

Walking, exploring, entirely alone, as the sun flared gold above the rooftops.

Radiant in the moment when time stood still.

Bathed in the warmth of a Venetian sunrise.

They toured the ancient canals by gondola, drifting through a city that belongs to another century.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
Can you photograph honeymoons outside of Prague?
Yes. I regularly work in locations outside of the Czech Republic — particularly for sunrise sessions in Rome, Venice, and Santorini. Venice is clearly my favourite; I have spent so much time here that I know the city’s light, rhythms, and quietest corners intimately.
What is the best time of year for a Venice sunrise session?
Top Choice: April — May
Comfortable temperatures, earlier sunrises without painfully early start times, softer spring light, lower humidity than midsummer, and meaningfully fewer tourists than peak season.
Excellent: Late September — October
Warm water, pleasant weather, beautiful golden autumn light, and dramatic sunsets. Crowds begin to thin noticeably after the summer peak.
Most Atmospheric: November
Mist and fog settle over the canals. Images take on a moody, cinematic quality with rich twilight colours. Be prepared for a higher chance of rain and acqua alta — both of which, in the right hands, add rather than detract.
Least Ideal: July — August and December — January
July and August bring extreme crowds, heat, and humidity. December and January offer shorter days and unpredictable weather, though a foggy winter morning in Venice can be genuinely magical if conditions align.
Sunrise Session Start Times
April — May: Meet 45–60 minutes before sunrise. Typical start: 5:15–6:00 AM. Sunrise: 5:45–6:15 AM.
September — October: Meet 45–60 minutes before sunrise. Typical start: 6:00–6:45 AM. Sunrise: 6:45–7:20 AM.
Why Sunrise Wins
At sunrise, you can photograph empty bridges, quiet canals, soft pastel skies, reflections without boat traffic, and major landmarks with almost no other people present. By 9:00–9:30 AM, the city has largely transformed into something quite different.
Evening Blue Hour Sessions
Venice is equally beautiful during the blue hour, when warm lanterns glow over dark water and windows reflect across still canals.
April — May blue hour window: approximately 6:30–9:00 PM.
September — October blue hour window: approximately 5:00–7:45 PM.

What does a typical Venice sunrise session look like?
Every session is tailored, but here is how a morning in Venice typically unfolds.
We begin with a pre-sunrise start at Piazza San Marco (St. Mark’s Square) — the atmosphere at that hour is genuinely extraordinary, with the square empty and the light beginning to shift. From there, we move to the gondolas near the Hotel Danieli, a hotel many of our guests choose to stay at, which places you beautifully for an early morning start.
From that point, we tour the canals and quieter side streets, making our way toward the Rialto Bridge and into the calli of Dorsoduro — one of the most photogenic and least-visited neighbourhoods in the city. Most morning sessions run approximately three hours. By around 9:30 AM, the city has become considerably busier, so we make the most of the early window.
Later in the day, many couples choose to book a private boat to explore the surrounding islands — we work with a small number of trusted local operators. Some couples also take a gondola ride; if you are considering one, I strongly recommend the morning rather than the afternoon, before the canals become busy with boat traffic.
How far in advance should we book a Venice honeymoon photography session?
As far in advance as possible — particularly for April, May, and September, which fill quickly. That said, direct flights from Prague to Venice are straightforward, and if a date is available, we can often accommodate shorter lead times. If you have a trip planned, reach out as soon as you know your dates.
Is Venice a good destination for honeymoon photography?
It is, without question, one of the finest in the world. There is no city quite like Venice at sunrise — the canals are still, the light is golden and low, and the streets are genuinely empty. For couples who want images that feel cinematic and timeless rather than crowded and tourist-heavy, Venice at dawn delivers consistently. The city is also compact enough to cover several iconic locations — including Piazza San Marco, the Rialto Bridge, and the quiet calli of Dorsoduro — in a single session.
What are your booking terms for a Venice photography session?
A 50% retainer is due at the time of booking to secure your date. The remaining balance is due on the day of the session at the latest. Travel and accommodation costs, where applicable, are discussed and agreed upon at the time of booking.
