Prague Engagement Session — Hong Kong Couple at Vrtba Garden

Kathy and Joshua traveled from Hong Kong specifically for this session — and from the first moments before dawn to the final frames in the afternoon, it unfolded as one of the most creatively distinctive engagement stories photographed in Prague.

The morning began in darkness at the riverside, long before the city woke. For the first image of the pre-dawn sequence, the two stood quietly before the Charles Bridge as the sky began its slow transformation — the trees on either side illuminated with flash to frame them dramatically against the emerging light, creating something closer to a fine art installation than a photograph. It remains one of the most considered compositions from any session at Park Cihelna.

The second image captures an entirely different energy — Kathy and Joshua running across the Charles Bridge as the sun broke through the skyline behind them, a lens flare trailing across the frame as she laughed and looked back at him mid-stride. Pure joy, completely unposed, and the kind of moment that defines why the pre-sunrise session exists and is a personal favorite.

After a break and a change of wardrobe, the afternoon brought a completely different chapter. Dressed in vintage clothing and carrying their own functioning vintage film camera, Kathy and Joshua made their way to the Baroque splendour of Vrtba Garden — one of Prague’s most beautiful and photographed locations. The concept was simple and quietly ambitious: to capture two people having their own private portrait session, entirely absorbed in each other and the extraordinary setting around them. No direction, no performance. Just two effortlessly stylish people living in the moment in their own unique way.

The result is a session in two acts — cinematic and dramatic at dawn, intimate and timeless in the afternoon. A study in contrast that reflects exactly who Kathy and Joshua are as a couple.
