Pre-Dawn Sunrise Engagement Session in Prague

American Couple’s Dream Engagement Photos on Charles Bridge

This adventurous couple woke up early to experience the unforgettable sight of their first sunrise above Prague.

There’s something truly unforgettable about Prague at dawn — the sky flaring with vivid purples and pinks, birdsong echoing off the waters of the Vltava below the Charles Bridge. That’s exactly what Megan and Brian discovered during their pre-dawn sunrise engagement session in Prague.

From College Friends to Fiancés

Megan and Brian’s love story began in 2012, the way the best ones often do — quietly, unexpectedly, as college friends. Brian asked Megan out early on, but she turned him down, not wanting to risk their friendship. Years later, it was Megan who made the move. They’ve been together since August 2023, and Brian proposed last December.

While planning their January 2027 wedding in Orlando, Megan — midway through her doctoral program — suddenly found herself with an unexpected week off. They booked flights to Prague without hesitation. For Brian, it was personal: his family traces its roots back to Bohemia in the 1860s, and he had always dreamed of walking these medieval streets with the person he loves most. What better way to celebrate their engagement than at sunrise in one of the most romantic cities in the world?

A Magical Pre-Dawn Session on Charles Bridge

We met well before first light. Mala Strana (or the little quarter) was wonderfully quiet as we made our way across the Charles Bridge — that rare, still hour when Prague belongs only to those willing to wake for it.

As the sky softened from deep blue to blush and gold, we had the iconic bridge almost entirely to ourselves. Just Megan and Brian, the ancient stone statues watching over them, the Vltava moving gently below, and a city not yet awake. The light was everything — warm, cinematic, vibrant, in a way that only the first twenty minutes of sunrise can be.

They moved at their own pace across the bridge, then above the cobblestones of Old Town Square, and yes, back again — by which point the bridge had transformed entirely, filling quickly with the first wave of tourists. The contrast was striking: we had been there for the golden hour magic, and now the day was beginning for everyone else.

To close their special morning on a perfect note, we made our way to the Wallenstein Garden, where tulips were in full bloom, and the light was still soft against the baroque hedgerows. Then it was time to say our goodbyes —  at the riverside as the Prague skyline glowed in the full warmth of the morning sun.

A few words from Brian…

The sunrise timing was absolutely worth it. The city felt magical, and Kurt’s eye for lighting, composition, and location made every shot feel timeless. These photos are something we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
